How can we help?
Turn a Phrase is built by a small team — we read every message that comes in, and we usually reply within a couple of days.

Common questions
How do I delete my account?
Inside the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. The deletion is immediate and removes everything we have on you. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Can I export my progress?
Yes. Settings → Content → Export my data creates a JSON file with your full learning history and opens the share sheet so you can save it to Files / Drive / wherever.
Why don't I see the daily reminder?
Open Settings inside the app, scroll to Notifications, and toggle Daily reminder on. The first time you tap it, your device will ask for notification permission. If you previously denied it, you'll need to enable notifications for Turn a Phrase in your phone's system Settings as well.
Is there a web version?
Not yet. v1 is mobile-only — the spaced-repetition + streak loop works best with the daily push reminder, which isn't great in a browser context.
Where do the idioms come from?
The bulk of our 1,500+ idiom library is drawn from public-domain lexicographic sources (Wiktionary's English idioms category is the backbone), with each entry's origin story, examples, and quiz distractors generated by Claude (Anthropic's language model) and reviewed by us. The contested-etymology field means we're occasionally wrong — please tell us if you spot one.
Will there ever be ads or a paywall?
No ads, ever. No paywall in v1. If we ever introduce optional premium features, the core daily-learning loop will stay free.
